Travel Essentials for Motorcycle Trips

The best way to see America is from the saddle of a motorcycle. Our renters have ridden through many states and over thousands of miles. Here are some of their tips for a great adventure:

There are basically 2 ways to travel by bike…hoping form hotel to hotel. For this the MUST HAVE list is fairly short:

• Rain Gear
• Camera/Film/Batteries
• First Aid Kit
• Change of Clothes
• Sun block (for those of us not clad in our riding jump suits)
• Sunglasses
• Map

Most hotels have laundry facilities and either offer food on site or a good recommendation for a hot meal in the neighborhood. I have to admit, after a long day of riding the thought of a hot shower and a soft bed is pretty inviting!

But for the less faint of heart there’s the OTHER WAY of traveling! The other way to travel is to camp out between destinations. This is the cheapest and most immersing way to travel. All the equipment you need can be found at your local or online backpacking equipment supplier. Here’s a list of essentials for the bravest among us:

• One person backpacking tent
• Sleeping bag
• Single burner multi-fuel backpacking stove
• Cooking kit (stove usually fits inside pot with lid)
• Cup for tea or coffee
• One meal for each days dinner and one energy or protein meal replacement
• Two water bottles one with measuring increments on it for cooking.
• Candle lantern with one candle for each day of the trip
• Small LED headlamp for walking around the site and digging through saddle bags
